Ryder Cup

Golf Ryder Cup refers to a golf competition of the biennial men between teams from the United States and Europe. This competition is contested once every two years where the venue keeps altering between courses in Europe and the United States. This cup is named after English businessman named Samuel Ryder who had donated the trophy.
Samuel Ryder was an entrepreneur and English seed merchant from St Albans situated in Hertfordshire who earned by selling packets of penny seed. He took up golf late in life for improving his health. He then employed Abe Mitchell who was one of the renowned players of the era to be his personal tutor. The first tournament took place in the year 1927 in the United States.
Ryder donated a gold cup which today epitomises everything that is good in the sporting competition. In no time, this cup became one of the greatest sporting contests in the world. 24 of the best players from the United States and Europe play the competition every two years. Sportsmanship, incredible golf, tension, drama and camaraderie are served in all measures equally. This event transcends sport while remaining completely true to the spirit of the founder, Samuel Ryder.
