Remembrance Day
Remembrance Day marks the end of World War One at 11 am on the 11th Day of the 11th month in the year 1918. This is when a two minute silence was held at 11 am to commemorating the people who have lost their lives in the war. There is a Remembrance Sunday each year that falls on the second Sunday in November.
This is the Day when there are ceremonies being held at war memorials, churches and cenotaphs throughout the entire Country an also abroad. This is graced by the presence of the Royal Family and Other top politicians who are seen gathering at The Cenotaph in the Whitehall in London for the memorial service.
This Day is used for remembering the people who have lost their lives in wars. This is not specifically limited to World War One. This includes the Falklands War, World War Two, Gulf War and Other conflicts in Iraq and Afghanisthan.
The poppy is symbol of the Remembrance Day. The replica poppies are sold by the Royal Canadian Legion for providing assistance to the Veterans. A two minute silence is frequently incorporated in the church services. This Day is celebrated as a national holiday in Belgium and France.
